Reflections and Pause was my first foray into geometric abstraction, a fun and colorful retreat to escape from being stuck at home during the pandemic. The days were unending, and days blended into each other with nothing different and no where to go. I realized I needed structure and well defining boundaries to differentiate each day - and unable to get it in the midst of the pandemic, I turned to my paintings, creating well defined shapes. I filled it with bright, vibrant colors that reflected the flowers and nature. I rummaged through fabrics and incorporated their bold patterns and colors too. The painting is a mood lifter, helping to brighten the days, a call for hope and optimism for a better tomorrow.
